Pretty interesting idea coming from some students from NYU’s Courant Institute of Mathematical StudiesDiaspora is a decentralized social network designed to let you be the one who holds onto your own personal information.

 

Of note is the fact that these guys had hoped to raise about $10k to start their project. With about 63 hours to go in their fundraising project they’ve received nearly 20 times that amount plus hundreds of programmers and designers have offered to help with the development project as well.
