Luck and Loyalty

leave a comment

I learned two things from that period after I retired as a player, when maybe things weren’t very clear for me. One, your friends will help you, and I’m lucky to have grown up in a place like Stamford, where I have a lot of loyal friends. Two, don’t be afraid to remake yourself. Because I am still remaking myself today.”

A great piece of wisdom from a great article in the NY Times today about the Boston Red Sox new manager.

Gary Carter Dies of Brain Cancer

First time I ever fell in love with any team from New York was when Gary Carter and the rest of ’86 Mets improbably beat the Red Sox in the World Series.

Great player, incredibly sad loss.

Yankees’ Posada to Retire

Sad if it’s true, as I really love this guy. But given last season’s performance it does not surprise me.
