Camping At Home

leave a comment

Can’t beat camping in your own front yard. Hear the stream? So do we… every night.

We didn’t actually camp here, we’re just setting up and prepping the pop-up we’re using for our x-country trip. But you’d like to camp here wouldn’t you?

Video was taken with my new iPhone and uploaded directly to YouTube.

Pete Seeger And The Hudson River Quadracentennial

leave a comment

The beauty of Beacon is that you never know when or where Pete Seeger is going to pop up. Today? At the Hudson River Quadracentennial celebration at the Beacon waterfront.

The young fellow standing next to him is his grandson Tao Rodriguez.

Another Rick Price Stunner

one comment

We had the pleasure Saturday morning of seeing our friend, and local artist, Rick Price hang another stunning mural on Main Street in Beacon. His first, which adorns the Howland Library, is a tribute to the library and its influence on the City of Beacon. The second, which sits at the bend in the road at Main Street and Cross Street just as you leave Bank Square, is a tribute to the Beacon Sloop Club, and its influence in helping to clean up and educate people about the Hudson River.

Rick’s work is nonpareil, influenced by the work of muralists such as Diego Rivera, and is a stunning and detailed representation of the the Hudson River and the City of Beacon.

If you’re making your way to Beacon, I highly suggest you pay a visit.

Man admits killing, dumping wife’s body | via Poughkeepsie Journal

Lots of police presence around my house this morning and into the early afternoon. The only vehicular access to the reservoir is one driveway beyond mine and runs right past my house.

My Town

leave a comment

I don’t know that it’s quite as bleak here as this article paints it—after all, Kathy and I are going to the new Sushi joint tonight, which, as far as I can tell, is doing pretty well—but this is a story about my little burgh.

Check out the slideshow too. In fact, if you look really closely at the first slide, you might be able to see my house at the base of the mountain.

Then come visit, so we can prove Ms. Rudoren wrong…
