WordPress Workover

You may have noticed a bit of a color change today. I’m in the process of reworking my Carrington Text WordPress theme to be more in line with what I like. Small changes overall. I like the simplicity of Carrington Text, but wasn’t in love with the color scheme or the fonts. In the short term I expect to tweak the colors and fonts a little more, put the main column on a bit of a diet to thin it out and, perhaps, move the sidebar to the left-hand side.

I’m not much of a CSS hound, so this is still a work in progress requiring a high level of experimentation. But it’s fun, and I’m learning something in the process.

Oh yeah, David Sawyer McFarland’s CSS: The Missing Manual and MacRabbit’s CSSEdit are what I’m using to help me tweak the site.

A New Look

Don’t know whether I’m sticking by this or not, but I’ve now switched back to a little cleaner theme that doesn’t require me to go nuts to create a single post. Prior to today I’d been using the stellar The Morning After WordPress theme, which was beautiful and very magazine-like. Unfortunately, it was getting to the point where I wasn’t posting as much or as often as I wanted to because I really had to think about the images I was going to use. In short, the old theme made this site more like a job than a blog. This new version of the Hemingway theme should make life a far site easier.
