Accused ‘Wolverine’ pirate calls charges ‘ridiculous’: | via Media Maverick CNet News

Wolverine” went on to gross $375 million worldwide, so it doesn’t appear the pirated copy prevented the film from turning a profit.

‘It’s just ridiculous. I bought it from a Korean guy on the street for five bucks. Then I uploaded it. I didn’t make any money.’

Curious, but I didn’t know that “making money” for yourself or whether or not a movie company made a profit anyway was the litmus test for for the legality or morality of uploading copyrighted material.

I’ll be sure to keep that in mind for all my future illegal activity.

Microsoft’s Demand for Immediate Take-Down provided no specifics re: why the post in question needed to be taken down, only that it needed to be taken down and taken down immediately.

I don’t think people should steal, which includes music or any other media you don’t own, but this verdict seems to me to be way beyond the pale. $80,000 per song for 24 songs iss unreasonably high.
