Amazing that this guy can even walk on two feet.
Read as he compares limitations placed on free speech if the Fairness Doctrine is implemented to limitations placed on pornography… AND PRONOUNCES THEM EQUAL!
The very same people who don’t want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] to limit pornography on the air. I am for that… But you can’t say government hands off in one area to a commercial enterprise but you are allowed to intervene in another. That’s not consistent.
What burns me about this is the same thing that burns me about some on the right who feel that books need to be banned, or burned, or otherwise kept out of the hands of those who want to read them. Eventually, when >>insert favorite group name here<< falls out of power, the same “tools” you’ve implemented to shut down dissenting points of view can then be used to shove a sock in your own mouth.
Left, right, or in the middle, freedom of speech needs to be protected. As soon as you start down the slippery slope of limiting speech that you don’t like, you’re in danger of limiting the speech that comes out of your own mouth.
My Senator… what a frigging idiot.
