My Bento How-to, Getting Started With Bento, which appeared in the November issue of Macworld magazine, is now online at Macworld.com. The piece has been updated to reflect the changes made to Bento when Filemaker Inc. released Bento 2 about a month ago.

In this article, customer and merchandise data stored in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet was moved into a Bento database. To limit redundant data entry, you created two separate Bento libraries, one for the customers and another for the merchandise that these customers purchased, and then manually linked the two databases together. I’ve since found a trick that makes it possible to import and re-link related data into Bento without having to do it manually like you did in the Macworld how-to.

You’ll find a tutorial called Importing Related Data Into Bento at BentoUsers.com, a great Bento resource. While the tip uses data stored in an Microsoft Access database, the basic tools you need to import and link your Excel data are all there.
