The final bits of outdoor work commence…
Dscn3460It may be a bit hard to see, but if you take a look at the underside of the garage gable you’ll note that some soffit has appeared. Newly stained T&G cedar has been added as the final touch to the front of the house. (It’s also been wrapped around the corner of the garage, so the rest of the house isn’t that far behind.) What this means is that it has finally become warm enough to make a good bit of the snow disappear, now making it possible for the soffit to be installed. (Earlier installations would have required the ability to snowboard and nail at the same time. Skills which give a completely new meaning to the concept of extreme sports.)

The soffit has been stained with an opaque Cabot stain called Plum Island. It’s the same color we used on the vertical trim boards and the underside of all the horizontal boards. (Yeah, that’s a pretty anal stain job, but it looks nice and that’s what counts.)

As I mentioned earlier, tile downstairs is in and grouted. Upstairs the tile in the bathroom has begun as well. With the installation of Ard Woo on Monday, we’ll be careering toward a date with a CO. The final CO depends in the installation of our kitchen cabinets, but once the hardwood and tile is complete, we can install all of the interior doors, trim and bathroom fixtures. In other words, this is finally going to be a real house. (Cue: Blue Fairy waving magic wand.)
