Now with REAL tile!
Tile arrived yesterday so I picked it up and Colin and I hauled it from the back of the car to the master bedroom bathroom. (Colin with one box at a time, me with three.) He got tuckered out pretty quickly and wanted to play in the stream (who could blame him) so, like some little kid at Christmas, I started tearing open tile boxes and laying them on the floor.

Initially we had thought that we wanted to lay the tile in straight lines as you walked into the wet area of the bathroom and on diagonals on any of the vertical walls. It didn’t take five minutes to see that this was a pretty dorky idea. Just too symmetrical and downright boring, probably because the tile are all 6". Really, the floor just had no heart. Sooo… I laid out a border that was straight and turned the field tile 45º.  It looks much much better!

On the View Front
There’s no way that this photo can begin to capture the surprise I feel every time I walk into our bedroom. The hallway to our room is not a straight line. You actually have to walk about 4 feet down a short hallway and then make a quick turn to the left. When you make that turn you can see two of the six windows in the bay that will be at the foot of our bed. When you’re standing in that hall the second of those two windows is perfectly aligned to look right up the stream. I swear, every time I turn that corner it takes my breath away.

This picture in no way does this view justice—not to mention that it’s blurry because I didn’t want to use the flash and I had no tripod—but I just thought you might like to see what I’m talking about. The second shot is the view from the kitchen to the dining area. It’s a shot that I took in the morning. Can you imagine breakfast in this light?

Kitchen cabinets will be delivered today.
