By golly!
Part of Thursday and all of Friday and Saturday brought the hardwood guys back to the house, sanding the floor, finishing the nosing and putting down the first coat of poly. Looks real nice!
Kathy and I spent the weekend finalizing a couple of lighting fixtures and nailing down the color of the formica we’ll use on the countertops. Yes, I know… some of you are rolling your eyes with disdain. But hey, lumber prices and missing framers sent our budget through the roof. We’ll enjoy some nice, inexpensive Formica for a time and then, someday, when the kids are out of college and Kathy and I have no teeth, we’ll lay down the necessary ducats for something else. In the meantime we can still get a C.O. (And the banks off our backs…)
What we ended up choosing was Alaskan Slate (7270-58) which has some warmer tones that go with both the cabinets and the floor, as well as some hints of green which, of course, goes with the outside. Here’s a sample of what it looks like:

And don’t these floors look nice? (Sorry, I had to slip in a picture of our bedroom windows looking up from the floor too!)
