And much needed sleep…

With apologies to Jane over at expirationdates, who is waiting like a Christmas-morning-girl for us to announce that we’ve closed, let me unwrap the package here and now.

WE HAVE CLOSED!!!

The end came last Wednesday. After two hours and a severe case of writer’s cramp we finally had the monkey off our backs. Wow!

That’s not to say that all went as smooth as glass. More like it was a pain in something that rhymes with glass.

Banking idiocy prevailed until the bitter end. The BANK’s attorney said that the paperwork was the worst, most poorly organized pile he had ever seen. While I’m sure he was exaggerating, he said it took him nearly 20 hours to get it all straightened out in time for the closing. That, friends, is a microcosm of my banking experience during the entire process.

A word to the wise: If you understand the fact that real estate agents always work for the seller not the buyer here’s another fact for your bag… bankers only work for themselves. The bottom line only benefits themselves. The people selling you the loans? Let’s just say that I’m ready to start a long term relationship with my used car salesman now. Where money’s involved? CYA. Seems obvious, I know. To me too. In retrospect, of course.

More pictures to follow shortly. Move in date on the 29th. Now… much needed sleep.
