Delay of move day too…
Just goes to show you that you can’t go anywhere until the job is 100% complete.
Thursday I took off with my eldest daughter to California for my Grandmother’s memorial service. I talked with the hardwood floor guys making sure that they were coming on Friday to put the final coat of finish on the floor, as we’re moving on Wednesday the 29th and I want to be sure that the floors have cured properly.
"No problem!" I’m told. "It’ll be done by Friday."
Friday evening comes and so does a call from my wife… "Weren’t the floors supposed to be done today?"
"Yeah, definitely."
"Well, they’re not done…"
(Sotto voce cursing and mumbled expletives.)
"All right, I’ll give them a call."
Throughout the entire weekend I leave messages all of which go unreturned.
The floor also goes unfinished.
I leave menacing phones calls and very UN-subtle death threats, Haitian voodoo curses and the like.
In CA I’m burning my hardwood guy in effigy using satin floor finish as a starter fluid.
Monday comes. I wake up at 4:00 am EST and leave yet another message for the flooring guy.
I get a call back around 5:00 am EST.
Excuses, explanations, and more excuses.
Menacing and death threats persist.
Floors get done Monday evening.
Now we move on the 5th.
