Saw this link first via John Gruber’s Daring Fireball and it just about sums up the Kindle 2 for me:

The design has too many bells and whistles and not enough elegance to be a truly great device.

So says Greg Raiz, who has some excellent ideas about how to make the Kindle better, but on one point I’d go a step further.

Greg says, 

No menu/wifi/battery indicator. It’s a book. Tap the screen to see menu/status info/options.

But I think, if you’re going to have a touch screen, get rid of all except the power button. Instead, tap either side of the screen to turn pages, just like the iPhone’s Stanza app.
