Interesting article in the NY Times today about what some people are doing to make work after they’ve been laid off or have otherwise lost their jobs. There are some very interesting and enterprising individuals in the piece and some interesting ideas for making money:
- Jellyfish tank manufacturing
- Social networking for neighborhoods
- Inexpensive web site design for businesses
- Â A by-invitation-only restaurant review site
Again, I don’t want to downplay the fact that there are financial issues going on out there, I know there are, but these ALL seem to be businesses built on a foundation of the unnecessary and ephemeral. If we’re in a crisis economy on par with the Great Depression, why are businesses such as these making a go of it?
Who buys $25,000 jellyfish tanks in a crisis?
