We are on the home stretch of our trip of the ages. After planning for years, it’s hard to believe that there is really only a week left.
Yesterday we rode on a real steam engine train, one that you might recognize from Back To the Future, the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Let me tell you, it was the experience of a lifetime. Not only was the view from the open car spectacular, but Silverton, a weensy town at the far end of the rail, was absolutely lovely. Just a cute little town with a complete school district of 60 students, and exactly one paved road, it was set into the mountains and was a town I would definitely spend my summers at.
Currently we are driving through New Mexico, headed towards Carlsbad Caverns. Look them up; they’re really a sight to see from what I have heard.
