Ruin the database…
The message from my ISP stated that there would be routine maintenance on their servers starting at 1:00 am Sunday morning and that it should be finished by 8:00 am the same morning. We had a pretty busy weekend as both my girls were involved with a production of Annie at school, I was doing Oliver!, and then the girls had a dance recital on both Saturday and Sundayâ€â€No, we’re not busy, just occupied…â€â€so I wasn’t really worried that it would interfere with anything I had to do.
Last evening, after all the festivities were over, I hopped onto my servers to do a little work only to discover that my website was nothing more than shattered SQL statements. The table that contained all of my POST data was thrashed. I put in a call to my ISP and, after an understandable Sunday evening wait, was told that this would have to be escalated and that the problem would “hopefully” be rectified within 48 hours.
Hopping on the site this morning revealed that all was well… All posts were intact… The world was good again. That was until I went to post some images this evening and was told by my browser that I was unable to write images to the server.
A little research revealed that there was a problem with PHP uploads and I knew that another tech support call was in order.
To their credit, Fatcow Webhosting resolved the issue within a matter of minutes. Apparently the weekend’s routine maintenance did a not so routine job on my MySQL (no, I’m not stuttering) databases.
Thankfully we’re back in business again…
