And other WordPress troubleshooting tips…
As I mentioned in a previous post I was having a little bit of trouble with my WordPress 2.1 upgrade. Namely I was suddenly seeing my posts appear twice in my blog, which wasn’t exactly a pretty picture. Spent a little time this weekend perusing the WordPress Plug-in Compatibility database and I found out where my troubles began. One of the plug-ins I was using to help manage categoriesâ€â€Category Visibilityâ€â€was duplicating posts for every blog entry that was in more than one category. I killed the plug-in and suddenly everything was beautiful again.
While I was perusing the compatibility database I came across another plug-in that pretty much alleviates my need to put my photos on Flickr, which I was planning on using to make the photos on my site nicer to look at and ending my need to load photos in a separate window. As of now I’m using a plug-in called Lightbox that does exactly what I wanted to do with photos without linking to a Flickr site for my photos. As you can see below, when you click the image, this little plug-in works brilliantly.
While the 2.1 upgrade was a temporary struggle, I remain VERY pleased with WordPress. Best darned blogging platform on the planet.
