The store opened at 6:00 PM sharp and it took about 30 minutes to get from where we were at the end of the line into the store. Everyone that purchased an iPhone was greeted by a line of Apple Store employees clapping and cheering as they walked down the aisle. There are no iPhone activations in the store, so those making purchases paid, got a great looking bag with an iPhone inside, and walked right out the door. A fact that ANYONE who’s had to spend time in a cellular store waiting to buy a phone is certain to appreciate.
We spent about 40 minutes playing with the iPhone and, first impressions being EVERYTHING, I was truly tempted to throw discretion (and my Verizon contract) to the wind and lay down the ducats for an iPhone. Hype it ain’t… this is one slick phone. I’ll wait, but I may need a bib and someone to wipe the drool off my face for the next six months.
