Even strikes fear onto the hearts of those who have completed a project…
We spent our 4th of July cleaning house and planning for our upcoming vacation. While I was performing a much needed clean to my closet in our bedroom I was also listening to a recent podcast for NPR’s This American Life. This week’s theme—which was a rerun from a much earlier show—was called Dreamhouse. In it Meema Spadola documents the tale of her family’s move from Manhattan to middle-of-nowhere Maine where Spadola’s family planned to build their dreamhouse by hand, from scratch. The story is terrifying, sad, and a warning to those who venture off to build a house without a real plan, or at the very least, with a misguided idea about what they’re capable of and what can actually be accomplished in three months time by yourself.
