We’re floored!
Welcome to those of you who are visiting us for the first time due to the article in the Poughkeepsie Journal. As luck would have it, one day after the photographer took the shots for today’s newspaper article, the framing actually began. And man does this stuff go quickly! The framing crew arrived on Thursday morning and by Friday evening the entire first floor sub-floor had been framed and sheeted. Absolutely amazing. And suddenly it’s looking like a real house. It doesn’t get any better than this.
For those of you who’ve never been around a construction site before, framing is the fastest and most satisfying part of the project. For our house, in less than three weeks we’ll have a complete house standing where our old house used to be, and that includes windows, exterior doors, and the roof. Of course, there’s a ton more work to do once the framing is complete, but having the frame up marks a real transition point for us: we’ll finally have something substantial to look at and walk through, which makes it feel like progress instead of destruction.
That’s some good stuff…
