They come. They leave. They charge five hundred bucks.
Of course, they’re completely justified. You drive to the job. You see that it’s raining like a bad boy and you know that there’s the potential for lightning. You call the dispatcher. You collect a $520 check. You drive home.
Total time? One and one-half hours including travel. The bill is for half a day. (They typically only charge for full days, so this is a 50% discount.)
The sickening part is that by 11:00 AM the rain stopped for the rest of the day. Had they hung out for the full half day, we would have been able to set the beams without t a problem and I wouldn’t be out half a G. I also wouldn’t be paying them another G when they show up sometime next week. It could have been done yesterday and I would still have five hundred bucks in my pocket.
The other, more obvious problem that arises from this is that I’ve now had to push the window delivery off by one week. Which, of course, delays my next bank draw. Which, quite frankly, makes me want to throw up.
All in a day’s work eh?
