I’ve downloaded a few games since the iPhone 2.0 software was released last month, but none that’s as addictive as Fullpower’s MotionX Poker.

MotionX Poker is a dice poker game for the iPhone that uses the iPhone’s motion sensing capabilities and touch technology to create a game that’s as close to real life as anything I’ve played on any platform.
Shaking the phone shakes the game dice in the same way that shaking a dice cup does. Once your roll is complete you touch the dice you want to keep and then shake the dice again for a total of three rolls, continuing to select the dice you want to keep to beat the program’s AI dealer who is rolling the dice too. Winning a hand earns you coins while losing a hand costs you coins. More wins equals more coins which lead to more power-ups which include special dice sets and new game tables.
At the beginning of the game you start with two tables. The first is free which means that it costs you nothing to roll the dice and play your game. The second costs one coin per hand and as you win more hands and your “pot” begins to fill with coins you earn new tables where the stakes are higher.
While the game play is fun, what makes makes MotionX Poker so satisfying is its feel. Shaking the dice vibrates the phone making it feel like dice in a cup and depending on which dice you choose to use, each sounds slightly different in the cup giving you a feel that’s true to real dice in a real cup, which makes this game as fun as any I’ve played on the iPhone.
