Progress denied…
As I stated last week, the framers walked off the job last Wednesday because one of two partners in the framing crew felt it more important to take a job in Scarsdale rather than to finish what he’d started with me. As it stands at the moment, there’s no one on the job, although a new framer may be starting next week. Sucks, yes?
The framer/partner left holding the bag, to his credit, has offered to sheet the roof and set the windows at no cost to meâ€â€a task he can easily complete with the crew his partner left him with. Meanwhile, I’m left to figure out creative ways to keep the wood dry while we enjoy the remnants of whatever rain the latest hurricane is pushing through the Northeast.
Could be worse, I’m sure. (Consider those facing hurricane #3 in not-so-sunny Florida) But what was once smokin’ progress is currently sitting at a complete standstill.
Hard to believe that a rain day and a missed crane opportunity could lead to such complete crud. Then again, we’d be on a completely different foot if one of two framing partners had the integrity to stick by his committments.
