I have, for quite some time, been a fan of small houses. So much so that before we embarked on the major renovation that resulted in rebuilding our house, I had instead intended to build a small writing cottage at the back of my property to act as both creative retreat and guest house for visitors.
So it was with some joy last week that I found yet another article, this time in the NYTimes, titled “The Next Little Thing?” which heralded the creators of small but elegant homes. I also wasn’t surprised to find that the article featured one of my favorite small house designers, Jay Shafer, whose Tumbleweed Tiny House creations are among the best examples of just how extraordinary and beautiful a tiny house can be.
If I’m lucky, and a good boy, I may still see one of my Tiny House favorites sprout up in the backyard.
