A Day At The Gates

Rhapsody in saffron…
Dscn3337Yesterday we took some much needed family time and headed south to Manhattan to enjoy The Gates before they are disassembled on Monday. While the trip down was not as enjoyable as we would have liked—we got stuck in an hour of dead-stopped traffic about 20 minutes from our house and nowhere near Manhattan. Why didn’t we just take the train? Fair question—the end result was an absolute delight.

The Gates were gorgeous and they gave Central Park a wonderful spring-like feel in the chilled air of late February. It was also wonderful to see so many people milling around the Park taking it all in.

As the day came to an end we stuck our noses into the Museum of Natural History for a quick glimpse of dinosaur bones. We weren’t disappointed. An absolutely wonderful sight and a much-needed family day after nearly a year of weekends spent worrying and working a house to life.

Fortunately it’s clear that there are more trips such as these in our very near future.
