Interesting little bit in a letter Hemingway wrote to a friend after he had to put an injured cat down:
A car must have run over him or somebody hit him with a club.
Not quite sure how you make the leap from, “A car must have run over him,” to “somebody hit him with a club,” but I guess Hemingway knew his neighborhood better than I do.
Saddest line of all is the final paragraph. Even his letters were amazing.
After the bodies the streets…
After visiting the Bodies Exhibition a couple of weeks ago we also spent part of the evening walking the streets of Manhattan at night. And here… a photo of the girls looking particularly NYC.
Not to mention that the boy’s pretty sweet too…
Ahh yes, a long posting break, due in large part to the fact that I was no where near New York and I didn’t think it wise to broadcast the fact that we weren’t at home on the World Wide Web.
Where were we? At my cute little sister’s wedding celebration in California. She and her equally adorable husband got married about two years ago in a private little J.O.P. ceremony, but they wanted to have a family and friends celebration too, so we all got together and had a little fun.
Beautiful isn’t she?
Rhapsody in saffron…
Yesterday we took some much needed family time and headed south to Manhattan to enjoy The Gates before they are disassembled on Monday. While the trip down was not as enjoyable as we would have likedâ€â€we got stuck in an hour of dead-stopped traffic about 20 minutes from our house and nowhere near Manhattan. Why didn’t we just take the train? Fair questionâ€â€the end result was an absolute delight.
The Gates were gorgeous and they gave Central Park a wonderful spring-like feel in the chilled air of late February. It was also wonderful to see so many people milling around the Park taking it all in.
As the day came to an end we stuck our noses into the Museum of Natural History for a quick glimpse of dinosaur bones. We weren’t disappointed. An absolutely wonderful sight and a much-needed family day after nearly a year of weekends spent worrying and working a house to life.
Fortunately it’s clear that there are more trips such as these in our very near future.
I think you’ll get the picture…
*******Changed Again Already*******
I didn’t like the way the last one felt or worked, to I changed it again. Your comments still apply
So, you popped in today and suddenly everything’s changed. Here’s the deal…
I’ve decided to use a different blog template that highlights the house pictures in a better fashion than the last template did. What’s different is that now there are more pictures and only the most recent post on the page. (You can still see the last ten posts, you just have to click a link to get to them.)
I may still fool around with this a bit, but I like that fact that you can see the pictures better and that they’re all organized together. But let me know what you think. Do you like better links to pictures? Do you prefer more text? Is it a bother to have to select a link to see the entire post or to see past posts? Do you really care at all?
Let me know… I’m all ears.
Man, didn’t I copywrite this schlock?
No time to even comment, but I’ve found another house blogger. (Truth is this stuff is probably as common as dirt.) Just a note here though. If you read today’s missive on this gal’s blog, they stopped working because, “…about 6:30 this morning to a dim ambient light. It looked like the drizzling rain was set in.”
Drizzling rain? You’re kidding right? My guys were pulling icicles off of their noses in 20º weather today, hanging facia, pulling final wires, and making sure the drains don’t leak. Pure bravery by any estimate.
Here, have a look.
I think I’m going to make it my personal hobby to find a few more house blogs on the web. That way I leave those of you who read this thing something to do after we’re done.
This whole concept, Â© Jeff Battersby, from then until eternity.
I swear, I’m out of my mind.
