Macworld’s Glenn Fleishman susses out the details of iPhone OS 3.0’s new hotspot login and AutoFill features.

I’ve already had the pleasure of using this at home, or should I say, in my home town, where Cablevision provides free WiFi access to subscribers. My frustration in the past has been that the log-in for Cablevision kept you from getting to the web with other apps, so, in order to use something like NetNewsWire, you had to first open Safari, log in to the Cablevision hotspot, and then open NetNewsWire. It appears, in my very cursory testing this morning, that it now works fine. I’ll give it a more thorough going over tonight when I have more time to hang out in town.

Definitely a great addition to the new OS.
